FAQ

Is this email spam?

No this is email is not spam, it has been triggered from Kuehne + Nagel’s Easy Broker Solution. It has been sent from donotreply@kuehne-nagel.com because it is an automatic email that is triggered once the exporter of record has started entering the details for the customs declaration for this shipment.

Please do not delete the email as you will need it to complete the customs declaration, as the importer of record.

For more information on the Easy Broker Solution, you can visit this link here: this link.

Why do I need to complete this when I did not have to previously?

Due to the Brexit changes (stages 2 and 3) taking place from January 1st 2022, an import customs declaration/ENO must be created before shipments cross the EU UK boarder. This means duty and VAT must be paid at the point of import and can no longer be delayed.

Where can I find more information regarding the Brexit Stage 2 and 3 changes?

From January 1st 2022 full customs control applies to all goods moving between the European Union and Great Britain.

For more information on the Brexit stage 2 and 3 changes, you can visit this link here: this link

I do not know which shipment this email relates to, in order to complete the information. Please can you advise?

The commercial invoice number will be detailed within the Easy Broker Solution information provided. A copy of the commercial invoice will also be attached within the Easy Broker Solution.

What is a GB EORI number and how do I apply for one?

I have my own CFSP authorisation, what do I need to do?

If you have your own CFSP authorisation, then you do not need to complete the import declaration in KN EBS via the email you have received. Instead, please refer to the above email address uk.customers-brexit@kuehne-nagel.com and the team will be in contact with you directly.

How much will I be charged for using KN’s Deferment Account?

If there is more than one item, how do I break down the net and gross weights if I do not know how much each item weighs?

If you have more than one item on your commercial invoice, and you do not know the individual weights of the products, then you can divide the net and gross weights by the number of items to calculate how much each item weighs.

The CPC I want to use has not been accepted by the Easy Broker Solution, what do I do?

If the goods are a permanent import, then you can tick the box next to ‘permanent import’ underneath the ‘Customs Procedure Code’ field to auto-fill the field with the UK permanent import CPC.

A permanent import is when the goods are permanently shipped into the UK, without the intention of being returned to the EU.

If the goods are not being permanently imported, you can enter the relevant Customs Procedure Code. If you are not sure which CPC to use, please follow this link for more information.

If your Customs Procedure Code is not being accepted by the Easy Broker Solution, this may have been mistyped or the code removed by HMRC. Please check the above link provided for the latest CPCs.

My supplier’s invoice only has 8 digit HS codes, how do I find the last 2 digits of this code?

If you are importing goods then your HS code should be 10 digits long. If your supplier has given you a HS code which is only 8 digits long then you can visit the gov.uk website via this link.

You can enter the 8 digit HS code into the link above, this will bring up a number options from which you can see the last 2 digits of the HS code by expanding the headings. Make sure to classify your goods accurately based on the goods specification.

Where can I find more information to check whether my goods require an import licence?

An import license is a document issued by the UK government allowing licensable goods to legally ship into the UK. It is always the responsibility of the UK importer to instruct KN if there is license applicable to your goods.

If you would like to find out more information on licensing, you can visit this link.

If I do not wish to complete this information again, is there anything I can do?

I already have a broker who completes my clearances, please do not complete the import declaration for me

Thank you for making us aware that you have your own external customs broker to complete your GB import declaration.

If you have your own customs broker for UK import clearances, then you will not need to complete this declaration in KNEBS. Please ignore this email and we will update our records accordingly.
